airstream dream living

We're thinking about moving this Spring and most likely will.  It will be bittersweet to give up our current home, which is such a great spot in many ways, but it has its limitations and we've started to feel like we're outgrowing it.  We're seeking more space, either inside or out or both.  But mostly out.  We'd like to be out in the country, somewhere with some acreage and where we can do some small-scale farming, adding to our chicken flock and perhaps raising a few other animals as well.  I think it would be a good change for all of us, especially the kids.  So I've been scouring real estate ads, and after coming across one for an older RV for sale (a 1968 Bluebird Wanderlodge), I got sidetracked dreaming of RV living.  It's entirely impractical for us, the tiny fridge space alone is pretty much a deal breaker, but it's still fun to think about.  We of course wouldn't consider something this small, but how charming is this Airstream?  It's currently for rent on Craigslist.  I would have adored living in this space as a younger singleton.

happy new year

I hope your new year is off to a good start. With kids growing the time rolls by so fast. Maybe it does at this age whether you have kids or not. But the kids sure make things busy, which seems to have the effect of pushing a fast-forward button on life. It is easy to get caught up in the daily struggles and wish for a future time when the kids are older and less dependent and we're all able to use toilets on our own, eat with forks, and sleep through the night. But I try to remember to enjoy where we are at right now because there are so many beautiful and wonderful things about young kids and babies and I don't want to miss out on enjoying their company.  So here's to the present!  Happy 2014.
